Governor says he'll consider petition that asks for independent agency to review Ramsey DNA
News Nation interviewed author and investigative reporter Paula Woodward about a petition that circulated at the CrimeCon national convention in Las Vegas on April 29, 2022 asking Governor Jared Polis to take away the JonBenét Ramsey murder case from the Boulder Police Department and give it to an independent agency.
The 6-year-old’s father John Ramsey signed the petition. The girl’s mother passed away in 2006 from cancer.
The petitioners want the governor to assign an independent agency to conduct genealogy testing on the what’s left of unknown DNA found on the girl after her murder on Christmas 1996.
Boulder police refuse to have the DNA tested any further. Governor Polis says his office will review the petition, which was signed by 7,300 people.
John Ramsey says his daughter’s killer will not be caught as long as the Boulder Police have control of the case.
